Churchill Downs Shifts Simulcasting To Trackside Louisville During Prep For Rolling Stones

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (September 15, 2006) -- Due to The Rolling Stones concert at Churchill Downs on Friday, Sept. 29, the historic racetrack will move simulcasting operations to its Trackside Louisville facility at 4520 Poplar Level Road from Wednesday, Sept. 27, through Sunday, Oct. 1.

Churchill Downs officials decided to temporarily move simulcast operations to minimize inconvenience to simulcast customers in the days leading up to the concert and during the clean-up period immediately afterward. Simulcasting will return to Churchill Downs on Wednesday, Oct. 4, following dark days on Monday, Oct. 2, and Tuesday, Oct. 3.

"Because of the large crowds that will be on hand for the Sept. 29 concert and the efforts that will be necessary afterwards to clean and reset the facility and parking lots, we felt it would be in the best interest of our patrons to move simulcasting temporarily to our Trackside Louisville location on Poplar Level Road," said Jim Gates, general manager of Churchill Downs. "That will allow our customers to enjoy the simulcast experience without the possible distraction or inconvenience that concert preparations and cleanup could cause."

The temporary relocation of Churchill Downs' simulcasting operation coincides with Turfway Park's popular Kentucky Cup day on Saturday, Sept. 30. The week's schedule also includes a simulcast of the famed Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe from France's Longchamp Racecourse on Sunday, Oct. 1. Admission gates will open on that day at 11 a.m. (all times EDT) and post time of the first Arc Day offering is 11:30 a.m. During the temporary relocation, Trackside Louisville will also offer simulcasting from Calder Race Course, Hoosier Park, Oak Tree at Santa Anita, Belmont Park, Laurel Park, Woodbine, Louisiana Downs, Mountaineer Park, and other tracks.

Admission gates at Trackside Louisville and Trackside at Churchill Downs open at noon unless otherwise noted. Admission is $2.
